Bendix Drive
When the engine is started, the Bendix drive on the starter motor is engaged with the engine flywheel, and the torque of the motor is transmitted to the flywheel. After the engine is started, the power transmission is automatically disconnected to prevent the motor from being driven by the engine and being damaged by over-speed rotation.
